WAXING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are so many variations of a Brazilian, but at Aloha Aesthetics, all hair is removed from the bikini top and sides, the labia and between the cheeks. If you would like a modified Brazilian with a triangle or a strip just let us know and we will gladly accommodate you. If you would like to leave more, then request an “Extended” where we leave a triangle or strip and lightly clean up the labia (does not include in between the cheeks). Want to keep even more hair? Ask for a “Basic Bikini” and we just clean up the top and the sides of the bikini area.
Ladies, we will be honest. Removing hair from the root isn’t going to be the most enjoyable experience, especially the first time around. However, in the hands of our experienced estheticians, the process is only minimally uncomfortable. To help put our customers as ease, we offer complementary numbing spray and recommend popping an Advil or Tylenol forty-five minutes before your appointment. It’s really not that bad. We promise, you will be just fine!
It is normal for those of you who are getting a Brazilian wax for the first time, to feel a little more sensitive after the service. Some first-time clients are uncomfortable for a half hour or so and others feel a little bit tender for a day or two. It just depends on how coarse your hair is. Ether way, it’s completely normal. We also recommend not wearing tight jeans or pants after waxing and to avoid excess sweating and friction. The best way to minimize the any discomfort is to Be sure to take an anti-inflammatory forty-five minutes before you wax, another after your wax, and then use a cool compress on the area if needed (remember to not to place directly on your skin) to help minimize any discomfort. Once you start making this a regular thing, it will be over and done with before you know it and you likely won’t feel any discomfort once the wax is finished.
Yes, of course! Just know that you may be a little more sensitive then normal and that we ask our clients to wear a tampon during the service.
For best results, we recommend waiting at least a full two weeks prior to coming in for your wax.The hair should be no shorter then a grain of rice.
If you have something fun coming up, such as a vacation, or your wedding and have never been waxed before, we recommend not getting your first wax a couple of days before your even. Plan ahead and try to get in at least two waxes before you leave. This way, the first wax, which will be the more uncomfortable one, is out of the way. After your second wax, the results will be smoother and you won’t be too uncomfortable.
It really varies from person to person. Hair typically grows at different cycles so you are never bald. Also, hair perviously shaved does not grow back in one cycle. It is very common that after a first wax, shaved hair will still appear days after the wax. This is typically because the client didn’t wait long enough for ALL of the hair to grow out. You will, however, notice that after a few Brazilian or Bikini waxes, your hair will start to grow in much slower, finer and thinner. (Shaved hair is much thicker, because it gets cut off at its thickest point.) Therefore, don’t have high expectations of extremely smooth skin after your first wax. This comes with time and the patience of growing all of your hair out at the same time. But believe me, it pays off. We understand that the 4 to 6 weeks of “growing in” time can be frustrating, but we promise it gets easier with time!
Absolutely! Many of our soon-to-be-Mommies get waxed just days before their due date. Just know that as your pregnancy progress, so may your sensitivity.
At Aloha Aesthetics, we use a soft wax and hard wax. Our wax is formulated with the finest natural resins, bees wax and sensuous aromatherapy, delivering superior results and removing short, stubborn hair, all while providing a nurturing and skin conditioning treatment for extra client comfort, even on the most sensitive skins.
Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate! To ensure your next wax is smoother and prevent ingrown hairs, we suggest exfoliating every day in the shower. By doing this, dead skin and oils are removed from the surface of the skin so the hair is able to grow back evenly with minimal irritation.
We cannot wax you if:
- are using any Retinol products i.e. Retin A, Renova etc.
- are currently using Accutane or used Accutane in the past year.
- are using glycol acid or other topical skin exfoliation medications at the time of your appointment (or within the last four months)
- have any kind of sunburn, laser burn, pustules or breakouts on the area to be waxed.
